Responsibilities:
Lead by example, embodying safety as a core value within the organization
Support EHS team in creating cost efficient tools, programs and standards
Implement new EHS regulations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Maintain & adhere to federal, state and local EHS regulations
Conduct comprehensive EHS assessments, documenting hazards and collaborating with EHS staff to address challenges
Evaluate requests for the use of hazardous materials
Identify industrial hygiene functions, including assessments, data collection and interpretations
Support emergency response efforts, investigate incidents and determine root causes
Implement corrective and preventative action plans
Manage EHS monitoring, record keeping and reporting
Collaborate with business leaders and frontline employees to improve performance
Implement EHS strategies aligned with corporate objectives to reduce operational risks
Adhere to all Product Safety Standards, Safety Standards, and Standard Operating Procedures
Oversee the identification and management of hazardous chemicals and provides training and assistance to ensure compliance
Lead group training sessions and EHS committee meetings as required, and coordinates EHS training initiatives
Ensure timely reporting, response, and investigation of EHS incidents, driving the creation and tracking of corrective and preventive actions
Serve as a primary onsite first responder for incidents and manages workplace injuries according to corporate worker's compensation practices
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the corporate and business unit's EHS strategic plan
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred
EHS certifications such as CSP, CHMM, etc., coupled with significant years of EHS experience, may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
Possess at least 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience, with a minimum of 1 year dedicated to EHS
Demonstrated technical proficiency and knowledge of current EHS standards and methodologies, aligned with regulatory requirements
Effective communication skills, facilitating timely feedback to senior EHS staff and the ability to both give and receive direction for executing EHS risk assessments and measurement activities
Demonstrated ability to help identify and design various EHS risk assessment activities and associated follow-up communications with both EHS senior staff and stakeholders in a timely and effective manner
Strong, detail oriented, along with a focus on customer service, continuous improvement, tact and diplomacy
Demonstrated understanding and awareness of site and corporate EHS policies and management systems, including staying updated on EHS management system trends and methodologies
Effective organization and planning abilities, capable of multitasking and managing complex work schedules
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work effectively as part of team
