Bay Area Advocacy Org Seeks Executive Director!
A new San Francisco Bay Area based advocacy organization seeks an Executive Director with hands-on experience in community organizing and outreach. The organization seeks to promote more effective city and regional governance – with a focus on better policies to end street homelessness, lower crime, and create a stronger regional economy. Successful applicants should have political, government, or NGO leadership experience. The organization will be developing common-sense and evidence-based policies and then work to build support for these policies with the public and government leaders. Starting salary is $120,000/annual with benefits and the opportunity to earn more if key benchmarks are achieved.
What you’ll do:
With key partners, develop and implement a comprehensive advocacy and organizing plan to actualize the organization's policy goals and build up a powerful grassroots coalition.
Build relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, grassroots activists, policymakers and partner organizations.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization and manage staff to ensure success of fundraising, mobilization and coalition-building efforts. Work closely with activists and board members.
Take ownership of the success of the organization’s initiatives and ensure key timelines, metrics and goals are achieved.
The ideal candidate:
Has demonstrated experience collaborating with community leaders, legislators, lobbyists, government officials and organizational leaders to achieve legislative successes.
Has significant experience in political, government or nonprofit organizations, familiarity with California and the Bay Area and a strong commitment to improving the lives of residents through evidence-based policy.
Is a dynamic, mission-driven self-starter with demonstrated ability managing competing priorities and timelines.
Is highly organized, punctual and attentive to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Has the ability to manage staff, work independently and motivate yourself and others.
Possesses high standards of integrity, maturity and discretion.
Has experience in all aspects of managing an advocacy operation including budgeting, cashflow, compliance, fundraising, organizing, coalition-building, and consultant management of paid communications.
Has experience with tools like ActionNetwork, NGP VAN, PDI, DonorBox or other fundraising CRMs, phone/text banking tools and other back-end advocacy software.
Compensation:
Starting salary is $120,000/annual with benefits.
