ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Software Development Engineer, it’s up to you to define, design and refine the tech that keeps us one step ahead of listeners. Anticipate. Innovate. Bring challenging ideas and we’ll support you with the latest tech, tools and systems that you need to succeed. You’ll be essential in ensuring the team can reach their potential; working closely with them, reviewing their work, mentoring, and supporting them to develop. As a Software Development Engineer, you will...

- Design, develop, and test software components and applications for a leading global provider of audiobooks

- Contribute to an agile engineering team, writing scalable and maintainable code and influencing team decisions

- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch impactful software that inspires both customers and peers

- Utilize technology to solve complex problems

- Translate designs into high-quality code, delivering on schedule

- Demonstrate proficiency in diverse data structures and algorithms, making informed decisions on their appropriate usage

- Independently clarify technical requirements, estimate development timelines, and apply effective design approaches

- Conduct code reviews, offering constructive guidance to fellow team members

- Drive continuous improvement in software quality, customer experience, and product maintainability

- Mentor and lead developers, fostering curiosity and deep technical understanding

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Newark, NJ, USA

- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent practical experience

- 2+ years of professional software development experience including proven experience in Java, Object Oriented Design, Data Structures and Algorithms

- Programming experience with one or more modern language (e.g., Python, Java), including object-oriented design

- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current system

- Experience writing clear, maintainable and extensible code

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently navigate highly complex and ambiguous situations

- Prior use of AWS technologies at scale in a production environment

- Prior experience with data platforms, knowledge of core data and database design

- Prior experience in the marketing technology domain such as designing/implementing integrations with customer data platforms, Adobe product suite, or homegrown MarTech solutions

- Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hive, Hadoop, etc.)

- Willingness to learn, be open minded to new ideas and different opinions yet knowing when to stop, analyze, and reach a decision

- Full-stack development experience (web + services)

- Experience building and delivering software systems to internal or external customers

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective messaging with both technical and non-technical audiences

- A high-quality bar: documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, continuous integration & deployment
