Texas Trophy Hunters Association (TTHA) is the “Voice of Texas Hunting” and strives to unite all segments of the hunting community to promote, protect, and preserve Texas’ wildlife resources and hunting heritage for our future generations. For over 45 years TTHA has protected and preserved Texas’ wildlife resources for our future generations. Over the years TTHA has earned the reputation for being the most prestigious and respected deer hunting organization in Texas and, today, this reputation is known beyond state lines. Head-quartered in San Antonio, Texas, TTHA focuses on providing the hunting and outdoor community with resources and education for not only deer hunting, but for all Texas hunting. As a member-based organization, TTHA offers a bi-monthly publication, The Journal of the Texas Trophy Hunters and our annual consumer shows, the Hunters Extravaganzas. Travel is required to trade shows and any events to increase membership growth. TTHA is a division of Safari Club International.
All applicants should demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, hunting as an essential part of biologically sound and ethically responsible international wildlife management. The ideal candidate will have some existing knowledge of TTHA’s current programs and mission and be passionate about hunter’s rights.
Summary
This position is responsible for the management of all marketing, advertising and promotional activities for the organization. The Manager will establish marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives. In addition, this position will evaluate customer research, market conditions, and competitor data and implement marketing plan changes as needed.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and public relations program designed to maintain and grow the TTHA brand through membership, media relations, sponsor partnership, non-traditional revenue opportunities, SCI marketing and events.
Position TTHA as the go-to-source for hunting by providing and publishing fresh, timely and relevant content and information for members, prospects, vendors, and partners.
Develops annual marketing operating budget for approval and monitors performance on a monthly basis.
Work with the Membership Manager to develop and execute direct marketing and promotion plans to acquire and renew members/subscribers through direct mail, email, telemarketing, and web-based, including developing membership offers and advertising (internal and external), invoice and renewal offers.
Monitor performance and test new tactics for invoice and renewal programs with the goal of improving efficiency of these efforts.
Create updated correspondence and messaging (renewals, invoices, special promotions, etc.), including print, digital, and television in coordination.
Meet production schedules for delivery of materials.
Develops, maintains, and utilizes knowledge of industry and trends, competitive environment, and vision demonstrated through evolution of marketing and membership efforts as necessary.
Oversees, directs, and is responsible for completion of special projects, and other revenue producing ventures as assigned.
Create and manage budgets, responsible for meeting cost goals and reports on expenditures.
Create effective public relations campaigns to increase awareness of TTHA.
Responsible for execution of all media promotions and events. Track and report marketing and PR data.
Responsible for growing and overseeing the TTHA Dealer Program.
Responsible for TTHA merchandise and licensing.
Purchase, measure, analyze, and track media coverage as appropriate, for Hunters Extravaganzas and other efforts.
Forge and maintain relationships with key media and industry contacts to promote the TTHA brand.
Secure interviews for TTHA spokespersons and drive media attention for maximum brand impact.
Create advertising components for general marketing and social media when art department is unable.
Responsible for creating a content calendar that allows all product lines and service to come full circle and promote TTHA
Manages temporary support staff; interviews, makes hiring recommendations, orients/trains employees, plans, assigns, and directs work. In partnership with Human Resources and supervisor, counsels employees on disciplinary and performance issues. Addresses employee recognition, and standard complaints and concerns
Performs other duties as assigned. Attends meetings and events, including the Hunter’s Extravaganzas, as appropriate.
Qualifications
Must be proficient with spreadsheet, word processing, database, and graphic presentation software programs and have the ability to become proficient with proprietary software needed for the performance of the essential functions of the position.
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills and exceptional customer service.
Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or other related field and 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Preferred: knowledge of, and experience in, the outdoor industry.
Preferred: experience in membership organizations
