The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis is actively recruiting dynamic and forward-thinking Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) with doctoral qualifications who are eager to join the School of Nursing as the Program Director of the DNP-FNP.
UC Davis Health, situated on a contemporary 140-acre campus in Sacramento, California, is offering non-tenured positions within the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series at the Assistant, Associate, and Full ranks, or full-time Clinical X Series. The Sacramento campus serves as the vibrant home to an array of institutions, including the School of Nursing, School of Medicine, UC Davis Medical Center (including a level-I trauma center and burn unit, and a comprehensive range of outpatient services), a fully accredited Children's Hospital, and an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Practice locations encompass UC Davis Health Medical Center, UC Davis departmental and primary care network clinics, Sacramento County clinics, local FQHCs, and various other clinical sites.
The DNP-FNP program follows a hybrid format, seamlessly blending distance-based education with four in-person immersions on campus. Courses are primarily asynchronous, ensuring maximum flexibility for working nurses with diverse schedules. Faculty members in this program will follow a hybrid schedule, with requirements to be on-campus for set educational, administrative, and school obligations.
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $210,000. This position includes membership in the
Health Sciences Compensation Plan
, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary range listed is for base compensation only and may be adjusted depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not include variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plan.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include working in collaboration with program directors and program faculty to ensure quality program curriculum and instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Duties include course management, teaching, skills and simulation labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation. Responsibilities may also include participation in clinical site visits, scholarly project committee work, student remediation, test writing and analysis, program admissions, accreditation processes and program assessment to include serving on committees essential to the Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner program and school's functioning.
ELIGIBILITY FOR DNP PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
This search primarily focuses on recruiting faculty members possessing leadership experience who meet the requisite qualifications and seek the responsibilities for the role of DNP Program Director. This pivotal position will work closely with the Associate Dean for Academics and fellow Program Directors to champion the school's deep commitment to interprofessional education and active learning. The role of DNP Program Director is established as an appointment for one year with the option for renewal per regularly established university processes and includes additional compensation.
The DNP Program Director will contribute up to 75% effort to the role of Program Director. The Program Director is expected to be knowledgeable about nurse practitioner and DNP practice, education, accreditation standards, and regulations to ensure that the education of the DNP students is of high caliber and meets all accreditation standards and guidelines (including NONPF, CCNE and BRN), as well as be able to administer all aspects of the program.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Acting as a leader, ambassador and representative for the DNP program and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis.
Partnering with staff and faculty to execute all the operations of the DNP program.
Providing leadership and oversight for DNP program administration and quality assurance and ensure continued program accreditation.
In collaboration with Associate Dean for Academics, prepares annual teaching assignments and assures adequate faculty to cover program courses.
Collaborating with faculty and curriculum and student affairs teams to monitor ongoing student progression and facilitate student success.
Providing oversight for student matriculation and program completion in collaboration with curriculum, clinical, and student affairs teams.
Leading curriculum improvements in collaboration with faculty and student representatives.
Serving as the DNP Curriculum Lead for accrediting reports and accreditation to prepare for accreditation visits.
Collaborating with the appropriate staff to arrange for periodic NP related activities.
Overseeing the investigation of all clinical incidents that occur during simulations and clinical rotations in collaboration with the Instructor of Record and preceptor, and staff, as indicated.
Assisting the Education Team to regularly assess and update policies, procedures, Handbooks and other Program materials and resources.
Participating in student recruitment, admission, orientation and ongoing communications and program advising.
Coordinating resources and related requests with the appropriate Associate or Assistant Dean, including collaboration with development team for program specific fundraising, as appropriate.

A candidate for appointment in the HSCP Series or Clinical X Series shall be evaluated by the following criteria, which is appropriately weighted according to the primary emphasis on teaching and according to the needs of the school and the individual's responsibilities in the specific discipline.
