Description of Position

At TREEFROG US site, this Senior Scientist will lead a team of stem cell biologists to support the pluripotent stem cell (PSC) expansion and differentiation efforts in the C-Stem capsule technology. A primary objective of this role will be the development and validation of novel methods to characterize and expand pluripotent stem cells for use in cell therapy applications, and to support efforts in scaled production of PSCs. This is a lab based position with management responsibilities for junior lab associates.

Main tasks

Working as part of the larger US research group, you will lead a small team to:

Perform routing culture and quality control of human PSCs.

Encapsulate and expand PSCs using the C-Stem capsule technology

Develops protocols for differentiating PSCs into multiple cell types

Develops novel methods for manipulating and analyzing PSCs during the expansion and differentiation process.

Other activities

As the iPS team leader at the US site, you will also be responsible for:

Coordinating and collaborating with the iPS platform team in France

Collaborating with other US TreeFrog teams to improve PSC performance in C-Stem

Evaluating and interacting with external partners to execute on new therapeutic programs

QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in cell/developmental biology or related field with postdoctoral training or 3-5 years of postdoctoral industry experience. Must be able to work in the United States.

SKILLS

Knowledge

Deep understanding of Pluripotent Stem Cell biology and cell differentiation

Expertise in one or more of the following areas of cell biology: cell metabolism, DNA damage repair, epigenetic gene regulation, early embryonic development, or cell:extracellular matrix interactions.

Expert knowledge in at least one disease area.

Know-how

Demonstrated experience with the culture and characterization of multiple pluripotent stem cell lines.

Technical proficiency in standard molecular characterization methods such as flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, RNA analysis (Taqman, scRNAseq, etc), and standard plate-based assays.

Experience mentoring junior scientists and promoting their career development.

Mindset

Creative, flexible scientist that can thrive in change and interact with colleagues from multiple scientific disciplines.

Excellent documentation skills with a fine attention to detail.

Ability to work in a highly collaborative and matrixed team environment to deliver on common goals.

Work environment & conditions

Location : US TreeFrog site in Cambridge MA

Other aspects : Must be willing to work limited weekend hours as necessary
