PRIMARY FUNCTION
Early career designers join HED with a passion for collaboration, critical thinking, professional growth, and great design. We are seeking designers who want to gain exposure to multiple market sectors including Mission Critical, Healthcare, Housing, PreK-12 schools, Higher Education, Government, and Science and Technology. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, excels at working in a hybrid work environment under the supervision of a Lead Designer/Engineer, is nimble, and enjoys applying their talents throughout all phases of the project, from its earliest concepts and design through construction administration. HED is looking for designers interested in a varied experience that includes applying their skills to project work, pursuits, and competitions while honing their technical skills on project assignments.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the delivery of Information technology, electronic safety and security, and audio-visual system projects from planning stages to completion under the supervision of the Lead Designer/Engineer.
Observe BICSI, AVIXA, and ASIS standards and industry best practices in design and product utilization.
Understand the design intent and assist with its documentation
Work closely with internal company disciplines providing design to achieve full coordination from inception to project completion.
Develop cabinet layouts, equipment rack elevations and jack-field layouts, etc.
Assist with required code research for project assignments
Assist with material and product research as required for project development
Participate in internal and/or external project meetings as required by scope and schedule
Coordinate with the team as directed to provide written documentation where needed
Assist with responding to requests for information and submittal reviews under the direction of the Lead Designer/Engineer.
Participate in technical reviews through all phases of the project to meet HED expectations for quality and project performance
Other assignments as directed by the project team or supervisor
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Commitment to taking Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) designation exam.
Interest in and enthusiasm for sustainable design strategies.
Level of experience from newly graduated to five years
Ability to work virtually and communicate efficiently across geographies with multiple project teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong organizational skills
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit preferred
Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible
Ability to work well with others under deadline situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Capable of traveling to and from project sites to attend client, project, and construction meetings
Ability to access existing and new project sites for the purposes of project observation, investigation, and evaluation.
Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
