Job Description
This description covers the essential functions of the position. Incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Management has the right to change or add to the job responsibilities at any time after providing adequate notice and discussion. Under the direction and oversight of the Benefits Director, the incumbent is responsible for working proactively and effectively managing the client health insurance, flexible spending plan, health reimbursement contracts and programs, to include COBRA administration and developing benefit strategies and process improvement initiatives for optimized operations, cost efficiencies and improved delivery.

Key job criteria/responsibilities/standards
Work with current clients in response to questions and requests for quotes to develop effective and practical benefit strategies related to cost, delivery and administration.
Develop strategies and benefit package presentations for review with prospective clients and current clients alike to ensure the delivery of progressive and effective benefit programs.
Maintain knowledge base of changing regulations and requirements in the benefit administration and delivery arena and communicate significant changes to clients.
Conduct on-site client visits. The purpose of these visits shall include guiding the client on plan design, plan changes, industry trends and cost containment.
Maintain current knowledge on changing regulations and new trends related to employee benefits including HIPAA guidelines and the Federal Health Care Reform Act through attendance at professional seminars and continuing education courses.
Analyze and communicate results to clients of the implementation of new benefit programs and delivery methods.
Provide product knowledge, support and guidance to benefits staff.
Provide support with benefit projects and initiatives as necessary in support of Benefits Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret benefits periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Must have strong proficiency in analyzing cost/benefit ratios, utilization analysis and developing methodology for administration of Section 125 Plans and COBRA.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to apply the concepts of basic math.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format. Ability to assimilate a client’s requests into a deliverable product.
Must have demonstrated experience working with clients and customers in developing solid working relationships and rapport.
Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
Knowledge of internal systems AMS client tracking, DataPath/COBRA, HSA, and Alegeus software systems and programs preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Ability to prioritize job tasks and multi task function.

Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required
Three years previous experience in employee benefits processing and/or client relationships with a primary focus on benefit design and delivery.
Experience working in the brokerage or carrier sector desired.
Flexible Compensation (CFC) and Flexible Compensation Specialist (FCS) Certifications preferred but not required
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) preferred but not required
