Director of Hospitality Accounting

Job Description Job Description Salary: $145,000 - $165,000/annual
JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Hospitality Accounting is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting (on accrual/US GAAP basis) for a portfolio of hospitality assets under the supervision of the Director of Accounting. He/she is responsible for financial reporting, consolidation of 3rd-Party operating activity, invoice processing, cash management, lender compliance and other various assignments as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting
Month-end close activities including posting journal entries, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, and consolidation of 3rd-party operating activity
Review and ensure 3rd-party operators are in compliance with GAAP and ownership accounting guidelines
Manage real estate tax and insurance matters including planning, renewals and budgeting for the hospitality portfolio
Work regularly with asset management team in overall portfolio needs
Oversee cash management and planning, including implementing proactive cash management strategies to optimize liquidity and support organizational needs
Complete opening and closing entries on new and disposed assets
Review, approve and post Accounts Payable batches
Ensure timely lender reporting and overall lender compliance
Supports annual financial audits and appraisals
Ensures compliance with regulatory licenses and permits and tax requirements (sales, business, RE Tax, etc.)
Establish, monitor, and reenforce accounting policies and procedures and internal controls
Manage and coordinate all money transfer transactions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Training & Experience:
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant financial reporting experience
Leadership experience in hospitality and commercial real estate finance
Preferred knowledge of PropCo-OpCo structures
Technology:
Excel – Intermediate to expert level required.
Prior experience with automated accounting systems required. Yardi, required.

Ability to act and operate independently with minimal direction from supervisor to accomplish objectives

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light work – Sitting frequently for entire work shift. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 or more pounds rarely, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to reach, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Frequent use of computer keyboard (fingering) and computer mouse. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
