Join the Walman Optical team as a Regional Operations Director (ROD) . In this position you would be responsible for the strategy, leadership and management of multiple optical finishing labs, including oversight of all laboratory operations, manufacturing, customer service, and connected sales activities. The Regional Operations Director is responsible for building a cohesive team of management staff dedicated to “best in class” business operations and customer service. Meeting key performance indicators in quality and service will be a critical component of success in this position. In addition to leading change efforts, the position will ensure ongoing improvement in enhancing service, building long-term positive relationships and continually enhancing the value of the products and services in the view of the customer.
Position Specifics:
Oversees multiple locations of optical finishing lab operations in assigned region. Lead and manage region in highly matrixed organization with Optical Lab Operations and Sales.
Collaborate and partner with Walman optical executive team to identify and implement optimal structure and core processes for the lab operations.
Establish manufacturing policies & procedures in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, materials usage, shipping & receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations and Key Performance Indicators focusing on continuous process improvement philosophy.
Lead safety initiatives and compliance within the region working closely with lab management and engineering.
Recommend and implement strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy for the market.
Build, develop and manage operations leadership team to meet requirements, develop leadership skills of direct reports and coach for high performance.
Facilitate vertical partnerships between labs, customers, sales and marketing.
Translate the overall direction of the region to meet plan, seek and implement best practice and communicate to build excitement to achieve KPIs and quality success.
Provide aggressive and clear performance objectives; manage against key objectives; creates accountability and successfully manage staff performance.
Conduct regular meetings to meet objective and KPIs.
Leads by example; understand best practice; create effective market strategy and customer loyalty
Prioritizes and invests in the development of the organization and its people.
Experience/Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in process engineering, manufacturing or related field or equivalent experience; Optical experience preferred.
7+ years previous management experience with manufacturing; management of multiple locations in a matrix environment preferred.
Previous Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma
Must possess strategic planning, excellent leadership, development and execution skills, technical/data analytics skills, computer skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates high emotional intelligence with proven success while leading direct reports and teams through change.
Proven ability to manage, coach and improve performance to support business growth and achievement of goals in a productive, team-orientated manner.
Digital Vision Inc. (DVI) optical wholesale lab management software system experience preferred
Ability to design and execute business strategies to address efficiency, quality and growth targets; Minimum prior P&L experience of $20 million with proven record of profit.
Travel to lab locations up to 70% time; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
