Job Description Job Description Balcones Recycling East is a leader in the municipal recycling industry. Balcones Recycling was established in 2003 and soon became the cornerstone of the New York City curbside recycling program. In addition to NYC, Balcones Recycling now serves several NJ municipalities and counties, and in recent years has expanded operations to Florida. We are an operations-intensive business, processing large tonnages at multiple facilities, producing sorted commodities for the recycled materials market.

We are currently looking for Welder/Mechanics to join our facility in Jersey City, NJ

Job Summary:

Welding/Repairing the production equipment, Mobile equipment, Roll-off containers, hoppers and storage containers for all the facilities.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Welds metal parts together

Performs related tasks such as sizing and grinding

Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increase size of metal parts

Coordinate Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding

Locates and repairs components of fixed hammer mill

Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge or be able to learn Work Order System Inventory software.

Ability to pass Balcones Resources welder's test.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
