Job Summary
Magone & Company, PC is seeking a talented Accountant to join our Client Accounting Services (CAS) Team in Cedar Knolls, NJ. You will support multiple small to mid-size business clients, handling their full financial picture throughout the year, from entering daily transactions to performing the year-end close, including adjusting and closing entries, fixed asset and inventory valuation, preparation of workpapers, payroll adjustments, financial statement preparation, and working with our tax team to help prepare tax projections and business filings. This is not a remote position.
You must have CPA firm experience, 3-5 years’ experience in bookkeeping, and must be detail-oriented, highly organized, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have flexibility to work extra hours during tax season and to meet client demands. Responsibilities
Entering financial data and transactions in QBO daily
Monthly reconciliations for bank and credit card accounts
Processing payroll, 1099s, A/P, A/R as needed for some clients
Preparing and reviewing financial statements
Preparing the year-end close and workpapers in preparation for tax filings
Extra hours required during tax season and to meet other annual deadlines
Required Qualifications
Degree in Accounting or Finance
Previous experience as an accountant, bookkeeper, controller, or similar position
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Good with spreadsheets, experienced in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and basic accounting systems
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
Additional Qualifications Preferred
CPA certification is a plus
