Director of Human Resources – In Office Position
We have an immediate opportunity for a Director of Human Resources for a Construction Company in the Los Angeles area. This individual must be self-motivated, deadline driven, with an extremely high level of integrity and confidentiality. We are looking for a problem-solver with great leadership ability.
Job Responsibilities
Ability to manage the Western Region Human Resource Department and Managers. This requires the development and execution of recruitment plans.
Work with Managers to develop job descriptions.
Responsible for managing the regional personnel needs, including employee relations, benefits, compensation, employee development and training.
Ability and knowledge to work with labor relations to include multiple construction unions in multiple states.
Effectively lead the region’s Human Resource functions by consulting, guiding, educating managers and employees on Company’s policy, procedures, and best practices.
Proven Human Resource experience providing guidance on various federal and state laws, corrective actions, coaching, and termination processes.
Point of contact between the corporate office and the managers and personnel in communicating, educating about policies and procedures, initiating and rolling out new company programs.
Comprehensive knowledge of leave administration and EEO for the purpose of accurately processing and reporting.
Mentor and coach Human Resource Department and managers on employee performance including assisting with terminations, conducting internal investigations and recommend best solutions to insure all are treated following company’s policies and procedures.
Provide counseling to managers and employees on company’s policies and procedures.
Travel as needed approximately 25%.
Attend work related grievances to include legal proceedings.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources with SHRM-CP and PHR certifications.
Minimum of 10 years Human Resources experience as a Senior Manager or Director.
Proven success with strong leadership skills and managing personnel.
Experience and ability to work with all department managers and leads to achieve company’s objectives.
Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
Previous Human Resources experience in a construction environment includes working with unions and union employees.
Advanced computer skills working with multiple software’s to include MS Suite.
Ability to roll out new software implementations with the leadership team.
Ability to see the “big picture” and company’s objectives.
Ability to travel when required.
