Health and Safety Manager

BluSky is seeking a Health and Safety (H&S) Manager to oversee all aspects of Safety within one or more selected regions. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with BluSky Health & Safety procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. The position will report to the BluSky Director of Safety with strong partnerships with one or more Regional Vice Presidents.

Salary Range: is $70,000 - $90,000

Region: Supports BluSky's National Restoration, Reconstruction, and Commercial Roofing teams throughout the US. Job site visits are currently expected to be East of Denver, with a focus near our Denver, Chicago, and Atlanta offices.

Travel:  Requires frequent travel (up to 50%) to visit job sites.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promote a Culture of Safety: Effectively communicate Safety expectations and best practices to employees within the assigned region. Develop strategies to encourage participation in safety initiatives. Serve as a trusted safety advisor to branch or regional leadership.

Safety Performance: Measure Branch and Regional Health & Safety Performance against published requirements. Deep dive safety metrics on a regular basis to identify trends and support action planning within assigned regions.

Project Management: Deliver Health & Safety projects that are on-time and of high quality that have branch, regional, or organizational impact.

Communication: Effectively communicate the state of business to leaders at all levels of the organization. Ability to tailor communication.

Develop & Implement Safety Procedures: Create and maintain BluSky Health & Safety Procedures that align with field operations best practices, industry standards, and/or regulatory updates.

Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify Health & Safety risks associated with restoration construction projects with the assigned regions. Partner with Regional Leadership on strategies to mitigate Health & Safety risks.

Incident Management & Investigation: Lead incident investigations and determine root cause and preventative measures.

Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular inspections of job sites, equipment, and facilities within the assigned regions. Execute third party safety inspection strategy. Partner with field, branch, and regional leadership to improve Safety Inspection performance.

Safety Training & Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels of the organization. Identify training gaps within assigned region and build strategies to improve performance.

Regulatory Compliance: Continuously review local, state, and federal Health & Safety regulations and determine applicability to restoration construction industry. Develop or improve BluSky Health & Safety programs, best practices, or Standard Operating Procedures to meet regulatory compliance requirements.

Contractor & Subcontractor Management: Ensure that subcontractors and vendors adhere to safety policies and procedures while working on BluSky projects. Collaborate with project managers to monitor subcontractor performance and address any safety concerns.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This role has no direct reports currently.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

3+ years of Environmental, Health, & Safety related field experience. Preference within the Restoration and/or Construction Industry.

Strong ability to communicate, work cross functionally with other groups, and show solid judgment based on data.

Work closely with branch and regional leadership to drive Safety performance across the assigned regions.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

TRAVEL:

Frequent travel. (Up to 50% of the time.) Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for training or meetings.
