About the Role
The Executive Director position at the SCORCH Center is a key leadership role with a focus on the overall planning, function, and long-term support of the center. The successful candidate will be responsible for interacting with faculty and national collaborators, managing center staff and functions, and establishing the center's business model. Fundraising and outreach efforts are also a significant part of the role. The Executive Director will be expected to independently oversee the center's academic or research program, represent the program to external organizations, and work with the faculty on formulating short-term planning and procedures. The position requires a terminal degree in a related field, at least five years of relevant experience, a strong academic background in the selected area of research, and demonstrated management and fundraising experience.Applicants for the Executive Director position must have a terminal degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The role demands advanced knowledge of contract and grant rules, effective resource management, and a proven capacity to identify sources of support for research infrastructure. Management experience in academic or government agencies, as well as cutting-edge research capabilities in molecular biology and metabolomics, are essential. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with high throughput sample processing for microbiome and metabolomics technologies, and the ability to think strategically and creatively to anticipate and plan for large, multi-year projects. Excellent communication, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups are also required.
