La Raza Community Resource Center (LRCRC) is a bilingual, multi-service non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the social service, immigration, educational, and leadership development needs of low-income families and individuals. La Raza Community Resource Center is located in the heart of the historic San Francisco Mission District, the vibrant cornerstone of San Francisco's Latino community. We have been serving the community for over 50 years. Our Social Services Program services include a food pantry, family counseling, educational workshops, support groups, rental assistance, and many other services. Our Immigration Program attorneys provide both affirmative family-based immigration services and removal defense. All of our social services are free (subsidized) and legal services are pro bono.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director and the Chief of Staff, The Finance Manager will manage the daily financial activities and functions for an organization including: accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, payroll, and treasury. The Finance Manager will manage the accounts receivable and accounts payable.The Finance Manager will also ensure all financial operations are in compliance with governmental rules and regulations. This role will also forecast and manage a cash flow that meets the needs of the company. The role will provide guidance to LRCRC's program directors and administrative staff in financial reporting objectives and standards to ensure accurate, compliant and useful financial reporting is produced.

The Finance Manager will oversee LRCRC’s budget process and work with program directors and administrative staff to produce and manage effective budgets. Acts as an advisor to management on regulations and other matters that may impact the financial activities of the company, engaging with outside consultants if applicable. The Finance Manager will be supported by our Chief of Staff to consult and use our current external accounting services firm and assist with reintegrating budgeting, accounts receivables, accounts payables, reporting, and financial analysis back in house.

Responsibilities:

Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends and assessing the financial health of the company.

Oversee the operations and development of the company’s finance departments including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.

Supervise the preparation of quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards and assist with cash flow forecasting.

Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances.

Supervise the documentation of the company’s financial status and forecasts.

Mediate between the organization, employees, stakeholders, shareholders and investors on financial issues for amicable resolution of differences.

Create strategic business plans based on the analysis of the company’s status and financial forecasts.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):

Develop and manage the company's financial planning process.

Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial models.

Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with accounting principles (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting standards.

Communicate financial results to management, stakeholders, and relevant departments.

Budget Management:

Monitor and help implement the organization's budget.

Identify variances between budgeted and actual results and provide explanations.

Recommend adjustments to ensure financial goals are met.

Cash Management:

Manage cash flow and liquidity.

Optimize working capital to ensure efficient use of resources.

Monitor and forecast cash needs.

Accounts Receivable:

Generate timely and accurate customer invoices on a monthly basis.

Keep precise record of all incoming payments

Make contact with clients to ensure outstanding invoices are paid.

Monitor Daily collection report for amount of accounts receivable.

Issue invoices and bills.

Assist in gathering and compiling data to generate monthly revenue reports as well as other reports relevant to accounts receivable

Accounts Payable:

Responsible for receiving processing and verifying invoices related to accounts payables.

Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Performing day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data.

Preparing bills, invoices and bank deposits.

Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.

Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements.

Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients.

Generate reports detailing accounts payable status.

Understand expense accounts and cost centers.

Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes (W-9, sales tax, etc.)

Risk Management:

Identify and assess financial risks.

Develop strategies to mitigate financial risks, such as currency fluctuations or interest rate changes.

Implement risk management policies and procedures.

Financial Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant financial laws and regulations.

Coordinate with internal and external auditors.

Implement and monitor internal controls.

Tax Management:

Oversee tax planning and compliance.

Work with tax authorities and external tax advisors.

Optimize the organization's tax position.

Investment Analysis:

Evaluate investment opportunities and provide recommendations.

Assess the financial viability of projects.

Monitor the performance of investments.

Cost Control:

Implement cost control measures to optimize expenses.

Analyze cost structures and identify areas for improvement.

Develop and implement cost reduction strategies.

Team Leadership:

Provide guidance and training to team members.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Financial Software and Systems:

Utilize financial management software and systems for reporting and analysis.

Stay updated on technological advancements in financial management tools.

Strategic Financial Planning:

Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's overall strategic plan.

Provide financial insights to support long-term strategic goals.

Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or relevant field or 5 years or more of equivalent work experience as a Finance analyst or Finance Manager

Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Accountant (CA) or obtained within the first 2 years of employment

Strong analytical skills, analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to provide valuable insights for decision-making.

Effective communication skills to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders, making recommendations, and collaborating with other departments.

Leadership and management skills are essential for guiding and motivating team members, as well as coordinating financial activities within the organization.

The ability to think strategically and align financial goals with overall business objectives is crucial.

Proficiency in using financial management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is important. Knowledge of tools such as Excel, financial modeling software, and accounting software.

Familiarity with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (such as GAAP or IFRS), and tax laws to ensure compliance and minimizing legal and financial risks.

Adhere to high ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.

Familiarity with the financial aspects of Federal,State and local funding in Non-profits
