ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems and Equipment
* To ensure that the overall design, installation and maintenance of all the technical equipment at all the relevant sites remain at the optimum level of operational effectiveness and efficiency on an ongoing basis.* To be responsible to the General Manager in all relevant matters relating to the following:* Budgeting* Planning* Purchasing of Equipment* Large scale technical projects* Applicable administrative work as it applies to relevant company policies and procedures.
Technical Advisor
* To appropriately advise the company on all relevant technical matters as it applies to the overall job responsibility. This includes:* Corporate issues involving technical regulations* Licensing matters* Future Planning* Competitive practices
Staff Management
* To ensure that all direct reporting staff has the necessary skills to perform their assigned Job Responsibilities at the highest level of professionalism (consistently appropriate) and competence (effective and efficient) on an ongoing basis.* To maintain High Performance and effectively deal with Identified Non-Performance in a timely manner (within 48 hours).* To ensure and support all direct reporting staff in doing their own Performance Appraisals every six months.* To recruit and train new staff when and where required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations* Computer literacy in applicable software packages (Microsoft OS and Office Suite, Scott Studios/Wide Orbit automation, etc.)* Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment to the component level* Ability to work independently to troubleshoot and repair AM transmitting facility and class C FM transmitting facilities* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Problem-solving ability and skill in prioritizing* Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and standby generators, record keeping and level 1 maintenance* Knowledge of telephone systems and protocols including POTS, ISDN, T1, DSL and PRI circuits* Interact with management and staff at all levels* Ability to multi-task and handle pressures and deadlines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates or technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcasting Technology or related field; or equivalent level of experience. Must possess valid state driver's license. Must provide required proof of personal vehicle insurance.
