Aquatics Director
The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Aquatics Director/Certified Pool Operator (CPO). This position is seasonal (May through August).
Examples of Duties
Under the direction of the Park & Recreation Director/Recreation Supervisor. The position oversees all aquatic programs for the West Springfield Park & Recreation Department in accordance with Town policies and Department of Public Health, 105 CMR. 435.00 Minimum Standards for Swimming Pools. This will include but not be limited to lifeguards training, instructional learn to swim, staff hiring and scheduling, pool maintenance, budgeting, and fiscal reporting. The employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Shift : 9:00am - 5:00pm or as assigned by the Director of Park & Recreation/Recreation Supervisor.
Salary : The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on experience and certifications held.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation required OR or a closely related field. Minimum two (2) years related aquatics and leisure services experience, including experience in a supervisory capacity, or a combination of experience and education. Understand the general philosophy of recreation and its applications. Excellent judgment and problem solving skills Strong communication and leadership skills Candidates must be reliable, flexible and creative Must currently hold Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR Certifications, or equivalent. Lifeguarding Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Certifications are preferred. Must possess or obtain Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) designation within 6 months of employment. Must have a valid Massachusetts Drivers License.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
