The person will have experience developing innovative and complex mechanical systems in the medical device space, a strong technical foundation in either mechanical, electrical or other engineering disciplines, with a strong business acumen, and a keen ability to communicate & mobilize a cross functional team across multiple locations and functions (Research, Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, Medical, Marketing, and Product Management). This top performer that we are looking to bring on board has a demonstrated history of leading product development teams to execute on plan, will have great program management skills, and understands how to manage in a fast-paced startup environment.
The ideal candidate for this highly visible opportunity will have a background in developing medical device platforms, with expert-level design control, project management, and product development experience. They must demonstrate an inspirational and collaborative leadership style. This senior-level engineer will lead complex technical design and development activities, collaborate with senior and junior staff to execute tasks, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve success.
Principal Responsibilities :
Uses broad expertise and knowledge to apply technical and medical developments to the companies’ products and heart recovery technologies.
Apply technical leadership and expertise in the use of advanced techniques for mechanical, fluid, vibration, thermal, reliability, magnetic and systems analyses to efficiently achieve optimal designs for new and existing product platforms.
Prepares, presents, and leads formal/informal reviews of results, designs, and analyses, and drives alignment with peers, project team, and cross- functional stakeholders.
Fabricate and evaluate prototypes with assistance from junior staff, technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers.
Develop and update design documentation including test protocols, reports, and engineering summaries to support both quality and regulatory documentation.
Resolve producibility issues with internal and external manufacturing partners. Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM). Document designs by constructing solid models and drawings using GD&T and stack-up analyses.
Suggest, contribute, and champion initiatives to improve the Engineering Department’s operations and procedures.
Qualifications:
Degree in engineering or directly related scientific discipline, advanced degree is preferred.
5-7 years mechanical product development experience required; strong preference for experience with class II medical devices for chronic application.
Demonstrated history of theoretical and applied understanding of mechanical and/or electromechanical design.
Background in medical device industry preferred.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, domestically & internationally (US & EU).
Experience with SolidWorks and Monday.com preferred.
Must enjoy team approach over individual contributions.
Ability to work in cross-functional teams that span global operations.
Proficient in English verbal and written communication.

Salary:
$110,000 - $140,000 annually
