Description: The James Collective is a bicoastal, boutique PR and integrated communications firm that specializes in the CPG food and beverage, travel, and design industries, representing some of the best legacy and start-up businesses in those spaces. We have teams in NYC and in the Bay Area/wine country, and are looking for an Account Manager or Director to join our consistently growing company.

As an Account Manager, you will report to the strategic lead for clients, working closely with them to build and maintain strong client relationships, oversee PR campaigns, act as the lead on media outreach and results for your clients, manage strategic partnerships, and ensure the successful execution of strategic communication initiatives. Your exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and ability to manage multiple client accounts will be instrumental in driving the agency's success.
Key responsibilities for our account managers include:
- Drive media results : Build relationships with media/influencers/tastemakers, and oversee junior account team to drive, and exceed, goals. Ensure that client results meet 90% of defined KPIs, and that proactive relationships are grown by 1-2 per month.
- Successfully lead project management : Ensure that all client projects, tactical programs, and MAPS/reporting are executed on time and to TJC standards.
- Build trust as the day-to-day communicator : Lead tactical client communications, both reactively and proactively, communicating where projects stand, anticipating questions/needs, and responding in a timely manner to keep solid client relationships.
- Act as the ‘keeper of the brand’ : Ensure that all brand materials and pitches are on message, consistent with the clients’ + TJC’s quality standards, and can achieve results: 100% of all outgoing campaigns, copy, and final materials meet TJC quality and client brand standards.
- Deliver for the strategic lead : communicate and deliver status of all client projects to the client lead/partner on a weekly basis. Highlight and drive tactical next steps, and deliver minimum 1-2 creative campaigns/projects/or pitches per month that fit in the client tactics as well as media results that meet set media goals.
Requirements: - 4-6 years post-college experience in PR and marketing; PR experience a must and knowledge and experience in the food + wine, hospitality and lifestyle industries a bonus
- A robust and strategic understanding of public relations, partnerships, content development and marketing communications, their tools; as well as relevant industry contacts
- Skilled at leading projects and tactics for clients independently, while connecting/maintaining meaningful relationships with media and influencers
- Results-oriented and problem-solving, ‘get the job done’ attitude
- Outgoing and adaptable personality with a solid independent work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to think both strategically and creatively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional demeanor and a desire to both lead and collaborate
- Voracious appetite for the industries in which we work, media and trend monitoring
- Entrepreneurial spirit that isn’t afraid to take risks and ‘figure things out’
- Proven track record of creating integrated communications programs and meeting measurable goals, while using digital measurement tools, including coverage book, meltwater, muckrack, and Microsoft Office/PDF
- Desire to work in a boutique agency environment, pursue personal interests and learnings that are in line with company goals and make your mark on a growing agency (and of course, have fun in the process!)
- An inherent want to lead in the Bay Area and nationally with kindness, a sense of humor, and curiosity
