Henry Ford Hospital – Jackson is seeking a full-time Medical Director for Hospice and Palliative. This position will be 15% inpatient and 85% outpatient, Monday-Friday, and emergency weekend calls only.
Skills: Effective communicator, ability to envision, plan and implement program improvement opportunities, excellent and compassionate bed side manner, and ability to provide clinical leadership and governance over APPs.
Procedures: Perform history and physical examination, evaluate, diagnose, provide medical management and treatment, rehabilitation, and management of treatment of geriatric patients and patients in long-term care settings, act as an expert consultative resource for other physicians in the area of hospice and palliative care. Lead family goal-setting meetings. Function on an interdisciplinary and manage treatment plan. Manage common medical and neuropsychiatric co-morbidities and complications of end-of-life care. Wound care, pain, management, and medication management. Manage palliative care emergencies. Symptom management including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic modalities. Provision of appropriate advanced non-invasive symptom control techniques such as parenteral infusional techniques. Symptom management including patient and family education, psychosocial and spiritual support, and appropriate referrals for modalities such as invasive procedures.
Collaborate, manage patients holistically with the Hospice and Advanced Illness Management. Serve as the Medical Director Advisor for remote patients monitoring and Jackson at Home Services. Support Hospice, Palliative and Henry Ford Central Market at Home Medical Director in program and regulatory capacities.
Prefer candidate with at least 2-years’ experience in Palliative or Hospice. Prefer candidate: obtain Hospice or Palliative certification within 3yrs.
