This is a hybrid position. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details. About this role:
MUFG is seeking a VP-Underwriter/Portfolio Manager to support our Hospitality Finance Group. Hospitality Finance is a specialized lending vertical that provides financing for multi-unit franchised hotel operators that have a regional or national presence.
Qualifying Candidates will:
Be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of hospitality loans and be involved in the credit approval process with senior leadership.
Have a proven track record of enhancing existing relationships and closing transactions
Monitor and analyze financial statements to assess property level operating performance and compliance with loan requirements and covenants
Have extensive knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry and strong accounting acumen
Understand and have experience negotiating loan agreements, mortgages, notes, guaranties, and other loan documents
Perform and/or review property physical inspections/assessment of on-site management.
Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Understand client needs and collaboratively work with product partners to provide derivatives, debt capital markets and other bank products
Be responsible for training and mentoring junior talent
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in Hospitality Portfolio Management, Underwriting and/or Business Development with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage a portfolio of clients
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, finance, accounting, real estate, or a related field
Desired Requirements:
Ability to function both independently and as part of a team and will be expected to meet stringent work deadlines and work quality standards
Ability to work in a high-performance environment and effectively manage/prioritize to deliver on multiple streams of workflow while maintaining high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
Customer service focus with experience actively listening, eliciting information, comprehending customer issues/needs, and recommending solutions
Ability to work with financial models to assess property level financial strength and repayment ability
Ability to read and understand complex commercial real estate loan documentation
Communication skills that include experience presenting to varying levels of management
The typical base pay range for this role is $150K to $160K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
