Our client, a large chemical manufacturing company is looking for a Senior Process Design and Engineering Manager, for a newly created position at their corporate office.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the development of front end engineering implementation plans for projects:
Select optimum front end approach consistent with project particulars
Develop resourcing strategies/plans and front end implementation schedule
Define process design resourcing and skill need
Participate in / lead screening studies and definitive planning efforts:
Prepare process flow diagrams and preliminary plot plans
Develop heat and material balances, define utility requirements
Address / resolve all byproduct disposition issues
Optimize integration of new equipment into base facilities, including offsite systems
Participate in / lead process design efforts:
Optimize equipment selection/arrangement to reduce costs
Prepare P&ID's and equipment specifications. Finalize plot plans / equipment layout.
Coordinate Engineering Specialist input as necessary
Address and resolve all Safety/Health/Environmental issues
Work with technology to ensure all technical requirements addressed
Resolve all manufacturing, etc. issues and obtain buy-in by stakeholders
Manage front end engineering by contractors:
Participate in contractor selection / acceptance of contractor personnel
Ensure all Venture Basis requirements understood and met
Define optimizations and cost reduction opportunities to be pursued by contractor
Provide technical oversight / guidance to contractor activities
Coordinate resolution of all technical issues. Seek early resolution on key issues to avoid rework.
Ensure all interfaces with existing infrastructure and other design efforts are properly managed
Coordinate reviews by Manufacturing, Technology, Engineering Specialists, etc.
Organize HazOp reviews of P&ID's. Ensure all HazOp issues resolved.
Provide follow-up as needed during the Engineering/Procurement/Construction phase of projects:
Review key specifications & drawings, etc. for completeness, adherence to job requirements
Confirm adequacy of safety valves and other critical systems based on final piping designs
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (ChE Preferred) with 10 plus years of related experience.
Process design, scope development and project development.
Proficiency in process simulation and modeling.
Experience managing EPC contractors on large capital projects
Experience in complex and integrated petrochemical plant/process technology.
Commissioning/Startup experience.
