Structural Design Engineer

Description:  Job Summary:

Structural Design Engineer on-site in San Antonio, TX is currently available through Belcan at one of the leading aerospace manufacturers. To be considered for this role, you will have a Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or similar Engineering degrees and five to ten years of experience designing aerospace structures and or as a manufacturing engineer on fixed wing aircraft. Experience in Catia V5 and Enovia LCA are strongly preferred. You will be working on site supporting the build of VIP commercial derivative aircraft. This position is a great fit for someone with a mind for design, but prefers to be on the action of being on the line as opposed to sitting at a desk all day.

Job Duties:

Use CATIA V5 to develop engineering design for Shipside issues. This support effort shall be from now through the entire production build to aircraft delivery and includes, but is not limited to the following:

* Representing the design engineering organization to interpret engineering drawings and provide clarification on engineering intent to mechanics, operations leaders, liaison/manufacturing/ industrial engineering, quality, and program management.

* Providing cross-team engineering integration and drives the design maturity through development, modification, and test phases of the major aircraft modification.

* Monitoring overall build and sequence for alignment with design intent and providing technical recommendations for decisions related to the re-sequencing of the jobs, work-breakdown structure (WBS), and precedence network.

* Assisting in rapid execution of engineering drawing revisions as a response to production build.

* Supporting mechanics with engineering input for clarifications and/or improvements.

* Supporting PRR build integration and impact assessments.

* Communicating and executing engineering prioritization within the IPT zones.

* Leading research of technical, operational and quality issues and recommends engineering solutions.

Deliverables:

* Interpretations and clarification of engineering drawings for all parties on changes

* Recommendations on re-sequencing jobs, WBS, and precedence on design changes

* Clarification and improvements for mechanics" directions and procedures

* Recommendations on engineering solutions for technical, operational and quality issues

Required Qualifications:

* Develops solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems which require ingenuity and innovation

* Helps solve problems that would affect cost, schedule, and performance

* Works according to established guidelines.

* Ensures application of best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools

* Is proficient within a specific functional capacity

* Effective oral and written collaborative engineering environment communication skills

* Ability to effectively present oral and written engineering requirements and results

* Ability to work seamlessly in an IPT environment and across facilities and groups

* Requires educational credentials meeting the classification standards for engineers and typically a minimum of 1 year experience in an engineering classification.

* US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

* Fixed wing commercial aircraft program experience

* Extensive understanding of aircraft structure design, manufacturing processes and materials

* Familiarity with Boeing design methods preferred

* Previous Boeing 747 primary fuselage and secondary structures design experience preferred

* Strong knowledge and experience with CATIA V5

* Experience with ENOVIA LCA

* High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Desired but not required Software skills:

* Boeing IVT digital mockup experience

Compensation:

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $83,000 to $115,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
