Legal Services Coordinator / Case Manager

New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) is seeking a Legal Services Coordinator/Case Manager (LSC). NJRC is an employment-focused non-profit agency assisting individuals who are court-involved, veterans, or addiction treatment program participants. The ideal candidate has a legal background (e.g., college graduate with a pre-law-focused major, paralegal, attorney, law enforcement or corrections officers, non-profit legal aid staff, court services) and is interested in helping NJRC's participants to remove various legal barriers to gainful employment (e.g., municipal court warrants and fines, Driver License suspensions, lost or missing identification documents, criminal record expungements).

This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday) with a full benefits package. The position reports directly to the Facility Director (on-site) and the General Counsel (corporate headquarters, Jersey City). NJRC operates facilities statewide. The candidate will be expected, at times, to travel to other NJRC facilities and other job-related appointments in NJRC's geographic service areas.

Responsibilities:

LSCs will provide ongoing case management to a large caseload of participants who require periodic outreach and non-legal social service navigation;

LSCs compile written legal assessments for all participants (e.g., Municipal Court, criminal history, Driver License status);

LSCs present a weekly orientation session to new program participants explaining the legal services process (the general outline is provided by the Director of Legal Services);

LSCs correspond with New Jersey Municipal Courts to help participants resolve open warrants and outstanding tickets and fines;

LSCs are responsible for tracking performance metrics (e.g., number of warrants recalled, amount of fines waived, number of Driver Licenses restored) on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis;

LSCs assist NJRC program participants to obtain birth certificates, social security cards, state identification, and Driver Licenses; and,

LSCs make referrals to pro bono attorneys: some participants will require more advanced legal assistance that must be approved by the General Counsel.

LSCs are expected to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Working knowledge of criminal justice issues (e.g., the difference between jail and prison - or - Municipal and Superior Court)

Facility with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Excellent writing, organization, and problem-solving skills

Ability to learn and use the Salesforce database system is essential (initial training will be provided during new-hire orientation)

Preferred:

Experience with Salesforce

Related CRM data entry experience

Experience working in reentry or with court-involved individuals

Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply

A paralegal certificate is a plus

Salary:

The starting salary is $50,000. Salary Negotiable.
