Job Description Job Description Senior Tax Accountants can perform most tax assignments with little supervision. They specifically are able to handle complex tax assignments simultaneously. They direct and review the work of a Tax Associate and are very capable of making decisions on most accounting, tax and auditing matters. They are supervised in most cases by a manager, supervisor and/ or partner on an engagement. Generally, this position requires two three or more years of tax experience.
Key Responsibilities Works effectively with associates and superiors in analyzing business transactions
Performs complete and efficient reviews of individual and business tax returns while providing guidance and supervision to other staff
Demonstrates the ability to effectively gather data from client, Tax Department, and third party sources
Proficient in utilizing computerized research program
Works independently and shows initiative
Identifies and resolves issues outside of the scope of the assignment
Research is thorough in supporting resolutions in all issues
Begin to get involved and direct continuing education within a specialty area of the Tax Department
Stays current on federal and state tax law matters
Adheres to firm policies and to rules of the AICPA
Recognizes and pro-actively supports the fact that the Firm is in the business of providing quality client service
Develops positive working relationships with all clients
Addresses client and supervisor concerns in a timely manner
Quality is consistently demonstrated in all aspects of work
Demonstrates effective and appropriate delegation of work to staff
Has begun training with Marketing Director including basic marketing skills and the role of "Ambassador of the Firm"
Education/Experience Bachelor Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university; commencement of a post graduate advanced degree in Taxation or other industry recognized specialized knowledge certification preferred. Minimum three years experience in Tax required. Successful completion of CPA exam preferred. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Must be able to multi-task and have excellent organizational and follow-up abilities. Proven ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions. Ability to read, speak and write English.

Physical Ability - Tasks involve the ability to travel to meetings outside office, exert moderate physical effort, and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 20 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or repetitive motion.
Sensory Requirements - Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Requires oral communications ability.
Environmental Factors - Tasks are occasionally performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes.
