Job Description

About Kendra Scott

We are a fashion-lifestyle brand of big dreams, colorful confidence, and inspired design. Founded on Family, Fashion and Philanthropy, we believe that our employees and customers are the heart and soul of our brand, and that giving back is the truest form of success. Fashion meets innovation in the design of our two state-of-the-art facilities based in the heart of Austin, Texas, and overflows into the design of our growing retail environment across the country.

Position Overview:

Our Director of Store Design leads the Store Design Team in the design, project management and execution of design for new stores, pop up shops, shop in shops, existing store refreshes and updates, as well as special events.

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Visual Experience and Store Design. Important cross functional relationships are with key executives and leaders including the CMO, SVP Brand X, and SVP Retail. This position will support the company by continually elevating, evolving, and innovating through the design and development of our stores and selling environments.

Responsibilities:

Partner with VP of Store Design and Director of Store Development on conceptualization of new store designs and evolution of existing concepts for all points of sale.

Build and evolve processes and team structure to drive efficiencies (time and cost) and drive results (elevation and innovation) within the world of store design.

Develop and maintain brand design strategy that allows for agility and expansion of new concepts, localization efforts, new categories, and tiering/cost structures.

In partnership with the Director of Store Development, lead the team through both new store design and existing door renovation process by establishing and meeting key deliverables.

Build trust with cross functional teams through sustainable processes (i.e. Feasibility Reviews) focused on critical input throughout new store opening, renovation, and development process. Partners include but are not limited to: Retail, Operations, IT, MP&A, BrandX, and Marketing/PR.

Actively participate in the Real Estate Development process, pro-actively highlighting risks and opportunities.

Lead the development and final approvals of key vendor packages (millwork shop drawings, exterior storefront designs and sign packages and miscellaneous vendor provided art books and renderings).

Prepare best in class presentations and facilitate as needed within all levels of the organization.

Support as needed on special events, such as short-term buildouts and pop-up shops.

Partner with the Store Facilities Maintenance team to support ongoing store maintenance.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design or equivalent experience

Experience with retail environments and/or rollouts required; lifestyle or luxury experience a plus

10+ years' experience in store design and management for a high-growth company

A proven ability to define and achieve departmental objectives, strategies and develop plans with achievable timelines.

Strong design eye with awareness to trends in Store and Interior Design.

A solutions-oriented mentality with a data driven approach.

A comprehensive understanding of the store development process from LOI to the complete execution and on time delivery of store openings.

Proficiency with CAD, 3D modeling software, Photoshop, Microsoft Office and project management software.

Rendering skills required: computer or hand sketching.

Ability to effectively red line architectural drawing sets and millwork packages to convey design direction and functional requirements

Collaborative approach with the ability to translate cross functional team needs and design vision into functional designs resulting in beautiful selling environments

Open to giving and receiving constructive feedback

Constantly improving designs through simplification, value engineering and store requirements

A growth mindset: track record of leveraging past learnings, encouraging new ideas and smart risk taking in self and others.

Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to build cross functional partnerships to make effective decisions collaboratively.

Strong executive presence with ability to compel and inspire internal and external audiences.

High commitment to employee growth and development, empowers teams, and defines success as having a significant positive impact on the development of others

A shared appreciation for our 3 core values of Family, Fashion and Philanthropy.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
