Summary Job Description:
Little Flower Children and Family Services is seeking to hire a Full-Time Help Desk Technician for our Brooklyn location. This position requires traveling to our other sites on Long Island and in Queens. The Help Desk Technician will be responsible for assisting staff with basic operation of computers, laptops, mobile devices, video conference system, printers, scanners, and other peripherals. Technician will be responsible for providing aid and training to all staff with basic features of Microsoft Office 365 Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and TEAMs. Under general supervision, an employee in this class will troubleshoot hardware issues related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices or peripherals and software issues relating to Operating System, Microsoft applications, 3rd party software, and network connectivity.
Principle Responsibilities:
Train and assists staff on the basic operation of computer, laptops, mobile devices, video conference system, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
Train and assists staff on the basic operation of software applications used by the agency.
Identify and redirects Legacy and Intranet software problems to Information Systems staff.
Identify and correct operating system problems, windows update or browser plugin issues.
Analyze hardware problems and take corrective action. Repair hardware or contact maintenance technician or vendor with follow up to a resolution.
Enter Ticket for each job duty encountered.
Log daily work, problems, communication problems, and system downtime.
Contact NYS Connections help desk with problems related to NYS computers. Assist staff having difficulties with NYS computers, notebooks, mobile devices, peripherals, and equipment. Assist NYS Connections help desk if necessary.
Maintain the Information Systems Department Inventory database consisting of computers, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and equipment.
Responsible for labeling, maintaining, and cleaning all computers, notebooks, mobile devices, peripherals, and equipment on a regular basis.
Trace, test, and fix network cable if damaged. Maintain documentation on cable runs.
Carry out tasks assigned by supervisor. Report to supervisor daily to discuss any difficulties encountered.
Responsible for disassembly, assembly, and installation of moved computer equipment.
Secure all equipment as per instructions.
Maintain a working knowledge of all Computer Operating Systems implemented by the Agency.
Maintain a working knowledge of all applications that that the agency implements including but not limited to MS Office, publishing, spreadsheet, word processor, database, and mail software applications, NYS applications and any in-house applications.
To maintain and answer in a timely manner Cell phone, walkie-talkie and/or any other agency issued communication equipment.
Responsibilities include participating in configuring and setting up equipment for employees; implementing technology initiatives as assigned in accordance with agency strategy; and diagnosing end-user technical issues in the areas of applications, operating systems, hardware, network connectivity, server backups, printer installation.
Skill in the operation of electronic data processing equipment.
Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary
Good communication skills and be able to work both independently and as a member of a team
Independently resolve most issues with Windows 10,11 network printers and VoIP Travel to other Little Flower locations as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements: A+ Certification or experience in computer hardware, software and networks preferred.
Ability to work and be available during 9 am - 5 pm M-F shift
Availability to work after hours and weekends (infrequent & compensated)
Strong knowledge of Windows 10-11
Strong knowledge of the MS Office suite
Self-motivated and high level of enthusiasm
Take a personal interest in, and responsibility for quality of work performed
Ability to articulate technical information clearly and simply to non-technical people
Travel Requirements:
This position is based in Brooklyn, but may require periodic traveling to other locations. A valid NYS driver's license is required.
