Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) is an organization of professionals in the manufacturing and building material distribution industry. We manufacture and distribute our own brick as well as brick and associated products manufactured by others. Summary
We are seeking a “best in class” Project Engineer that will provide engineering design, specifications, and technical services for our production facilities. This candidate must have education and/or experience in the field of manufacturing, aiding in the completion of assignments associated with this position. The ideal candidate has a natural ability to roll with the punches, being flexible to handle anything that might come their way. They will be a strong and reliable support to company operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) -This is a safety sensitive position.
Handle multiple projects and priorities at one time
Engage with production facilities on a daily basis to assist with projects, break downs, and essential programs
Perform project research and complete technical design tasks
Prepare opinions of probable cost, construction specifications and contract documents
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
Experience with design, engineering, operation, and maintenance of automated equipment
Develop scope, preparation of engineering designs, specifications, RFQ packages, capital request development, and upon approval manage actual construction
Manage assigned programs and assist production facilities with training, utilization, and compliance with:
Preventative Maintenance Program utilizing Asset Essentials software
Acme’s Efficiency Monitoring Program
Arc Flash Safety per NFPA 70E utilizing Easy Power software
Combustion Safety per NFPA 86
Risk Reduction Efforts
Position requires significant travel and a clean driving record as company pool vehicles are utilized
Skills and Experience Required for Success
0 to 10 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment
Autodesk products experience, AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks skills required
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
Knowledge and/or experience in automation utilizing programmable logic controllers
Basic understanding of engineering design principles required
Excellent verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail is required in verbal and written communication
Associated with managing projects, the candidate must be capable of:
Generating project schedules, follow up and meet deadlines
Track costs versus project budgeting
Generate and handle change orders, hold meetings, take notes, and issue reports
Provide organized leadership and engineering expertise in executing engineering projects
Be effective in communication and following up with all managers involved with capital expenditure projects
Capable of developing and presenting training materials
Ability to create and give presentations
Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
Ability to work independently and as a team player

BS Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology (similar degree or experience considered)
EIT, PE license desired
