Job Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying growth opportunities and customer targets in the Consumer Market. They will be responsible for building high, wide and deep customer connections, selling Avient value, driving new specifications, managing projects start to finish and ultimately closing new profitable business by focusing on applications in the consumer market. Target customer roles include R&D, Engineering, Marketing, Executive Leadership and Sourcing. BDM is responsible for driving business growth for both Thermoplastic Elastomers and Engineered Thermoplastics Businesses.

Up to 50% travel is required. The ideal candidate will be located in the Mid-western Region of the U.S.

Essential Functions

* Develop account relationships, identify opportunities and capture service opportunities in the respective markets.

* Identify, drive and close new business targets consistent with short / medium / long term growth objectives.

* Drive new material specifications from start to finish working across various roles internally and externally culminating in formal agreements

* Develop and implement market and account specific strategies and growth plans; provide feedback on resource needs and emerging opportunities; recommend to Marketing and Product Management changes in Avient product / service offerings by evaluating product results and competitive developments; drive market development activities

* Approach the sales and development process with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness by successful utilization of customer centric selling skills

* Develop deep understanding of and share knowledge of key markets, players within these markets, target applications, requirements, trends, and needs as well as Avient's potential.

* Lead cross functional teams (sales, customer service and technical functions) to accelerate and drive profitable growth through solutions selling to targeted accounts.

* Establish a linkage between the customer's business strategy and Avient's capabilities.

* Manage strategic relationships, cultivate new alliances, and monitor competitive activity.

* Collaborate cross-regionally and cross-Business unit to achieve win-win growth.

* Ability to translate customer needs into product solutions activity #LI-CB1, #LI-Remote

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's Degree required in Plastics or Polymer Engineering, Business, Chemistry, or related discipline.

* 5-10 years' of experience working in plastic application and business development with a focus on acquiring OEM specifications.

* Proficiency with MS Word & Excel preferred; SAP experience preferred
