Duties and Responsibilities:
* Design and deliver courses that align with the changing landscape of public health and teach core courses at all levels as well as specialized courses in their areas of expertise.* Demonstrate excellent potential in building a robust portfolio of funded research. Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in multilevel intervention development, implementation, and evaluation.* Collaborate with other department members to enhance and complement our core strengths in community-engaged research, mixed-method studies, social epidemiology, community and urban health, health equity, and social determinants of health.* Desirable areas of research interest include cancer screening and treatment, maternal and child health, chronic disease management, diet and physical activity, digital health and social media, mental health and addiction, and/or global health.* Mentor and advise students, guiding them in their academic and professional growth, and offer support and direction to students pursuing research projects, internships, and other academic endeavors.* Serve as the SBS Program Coordinator to respond to program-specific inquiries from prospective applicants, coordinate admissions decisions, participate in student orientations, and track student progress, retention, and completion.
Minimum Position Qualifications
Candidates for this position must hold a relevant doctoral degree (PhD or DrPH) in public health or a related discipline and meet academic requirements for consideration as an Assistant or Associate Professor (https://www.memphis.edu/faculty_handbook/section_4/4_3.php)
Special Conditions
Candidates should have: (1) a record of teaching, publications, and involvement with extramural funding in public health research; (2) strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds; and (3) demonstrate program and partnership building experience in community settings.
