Description

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to spearhead our Human Resources department and be a champion for our most valuable asset - our people. As the Director of Human Resources, you will play a crucial role in shaping our company culture, attracting and retaining top talent, and ensuring compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with senior leadership to align HR strategies with the overall business objectives. Manage a staff of two (HR Generalist/Recruiter and HR Manager).

Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's growth and talent acquisition goals.

Partner with senior leadership to translate business objectives into actionable HR initiatives.

Lead the HR team in delivering excellent service and fostering a positive employee experience.

Manage the Compensation Budget and Incentive Plans effectively and efficiently.

Transition payroll, benefits (i.e. medical, 401k, etc.) and compliance.

Staff Onboarding, Professional Development and Personal Development:

Develop and maintain the onboarding and orientation process that introduces our culture of the Petersen Way, exceeding expectations as the best museum experience and best event experience by empowering each employee.

Create continuous professional development programs.

Create continuous personal development programs.

Maintain and improve the employee incentive program.

Responsible for employee recognition, social engagement and morale building activities.

Talent Acquisition & Management:

Oversee the entire recruitment process, from attracting and sourcing talent to onboarding and new employee orientation.

Develop and implement effective talent management programs, including performance management, career development, and succession planning.

Maintain positive employee relations and handle employee concerns promptly and professionally.

Manage employee exit / termination process; conduct or participate in exit interviews.

Ensure employee evaluations are conducted and documented. Assist supervisors in developing employee goals and systems of evaluation or measurement.

Ensure employee disciplinary action is conducted in a consistent manner and is properly documented.

Compliance & Administration:

Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations.

Manage and administer benefits programs, payroll, and employee records.

Maintain and improve Museum and HR policies and procedures that are aligned with the company's culture and values.

Assist accounting department in preparation, tracking and reporting for semi-monthly payroll, compensation forecasts and compensation budgets

Review employee benefit packages; make recommendations to management for changes to benefits contracts where appropriate; explain benefits to employees as needed; interface with benefit provider companies.

Communication & Analysis:

Communicate HR policies and updates clearly and effectively to all employees.

Analyze HR data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Stay up-to-date on HR trends and best practices.

Liaison for Legal matters:

Point of contact for Petersen workers compensation legal matters, any liability legal matters and other legal matters. Follow, track, update any legal matters with updates to Executive Director, COO and CFO.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proven track record of success in talent acquisition, talent management, and HR compliance.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that are aligned with business objectives.

Proficient in HR software and technologies; and Microsoft suite.

Passion for building a positive and engaging employee experience.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

SHRM or HRCI Professional Certification a plus.

Minimum Experience required:

7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources Management.
