Accounting Specialist

Job Description: The Accountant Specialist position is a full-time, remote position with occasional travel to the company’s Washington, DC and Waltham, MA offices. This position is responsible for performing all accounting functions for a government contractor, interacting with the Senior Accountant supervisor and other departments in the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
· Perform A/P, A/R, and sem-monthly payroll, including reconciling PTO and 401(k)
· Create, review, and submit customer invoices based on contractual requirements
· Create journal entries for proper revenue recognition, cost adjustments, and allocations ensuring compliance with GAAP, DCAA, FAR, and FTR regulations
· Conduct month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities, including journal entries and variance explanations
· Review and support expense reports following contractual agreements for travel and ODCs
· Work with project managers and customers on contract requirements
· Review/enter contracts and contract modifications
· Determine proper accounting for unusual or one-off transactions
· Ensure disbursements are within the approved amount with proper supporting documentation
· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
· 5+ years of accounting experience, with 2 of those years in government contracting
· Knowledge of FAR, DCAA, and FTR
· Knowledge of Government contracts, T&M and FFP invoicing, and indirect/Wrap rates
· Extensive computer experience in Excel (Pivot tables, VLookups, etc.)
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills
