Lead Accounting Analyst

Overview:
The Accounting and Analysis team supports Deriva Energy's business. Team members actively partner with the business to support a growing portfolio of non-regulated solar, wind, and battery assets. The Lead Accounting Analysis will function primarily in a reviewer role, responsible for the accounting, analysis, and cash management for assigned projects and processes. This includes support for the monthly close, analyzing account reconciliations, and facilitating cash receipts and payments each period. This position will also assist with compliance and reporting, including various project deliverables (lender requirements under project/portfolio financings including financial statements and debt service coverage ratios among other things), and interaction with various internal and external parties. This role requires familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong attributes for leadership, accuracy, process improvement, and will be highly detail oriented.
Responsibilities:
* Lead monthly general ledger closing for assigned solar, wind, and battery operating projects/financings and accounting processes.* Perform analytical reviews of assigned projects' results.* Perform cash analysis for payments, distributions, contributions, and forecasting processes.* Complete account reconciliations for assigned solar and wind operating projects, as well as financings.* Support the growth of the business, development of new accounting systems, controls, and processes.* Interface with lenders, external auditors, vendors, and consultants as required.* Assist with quarterly or semi-annual debt service coverage ratio filings for assigned project/portfolio financings.* Assist the annual external audit for assigned project/portfolio financings/partnerships.* Become knowledgeable of assigned projects/portfolios by reviewing/understanding financing and partnership agreements.* Ensure compliance with debt covenants, and any new applicable accounting standards.* Interface with lenders, JV partners, external auditors, vendors and consultants as required.* Complete ad hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications - Basic:
* Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline* Eight (8) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree* Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures* Experience with financial applications (i.e., Peoplesoft, OneStream, SSAS Cubes, etc.) and query tool (WebI)* Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power BI, and Power Point* Experience in training and developing teammates
Qualifications - Desired:
* Certified Public Accountant* Ten (10) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field* Strong technical skills and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP* Public accounting experience (Big Four/large regional)* Experience with company consolidation and limited liability company/partnership accounting* Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills* Proven problem solving and analytical skills* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners* Demonstrated ability to lead the work of others, serve as a subject matter expert, recommending best practices based on expertise and institutional knowledge, communicating complex concepts to management, and representing management in their absence.
