Description
OCH Technologies is hiring a Systems Engineer for a position supporting the FAA. The Systems Engineer will provide engineering support to multiple development teams supporting the FAA. In this role the Systems Engineer will design, develop, and integrate systems using automation (Ansible) through the various stages of development to production, while additionally performing system architecture, system administration, and technical documentation support.
Location
Hybrid/Remote: Sterling, VA
Anticipated on-site in Sterling, VA office once per week; Remote other days
Core Responsibilities & Duties
Build virtualized environments from inception to completion from development to production
Daily monitoring and maintenance of virtualized assets.
Create detailed diagrams illustrating network and infrastructure layouts, clear visualization and understanding of system architecture.
Collaborate on the development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through the creation and implementation of Ansible playbooks.
Collaborate and coordinate across functional teams including developers, engineers and testers for various projects.
Deliver Tier 3 help desk support.
Support occasional travel to local and remote facilities maintaining, installing and deploying operational equipment to the field.
Collaborate on deployment of application and environment updates.
Gathering, scoping and estimating processes for various applications.
Install, configure and test operating systems, application software and system management tools.
Participate in team coding exercises, paired programming and preforming code reviews and pull-request approvals (IaC).
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Science
Experience
5+ years of relevant experience
Experience with Linux (Especially RHEL and derivatives)
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
Experience with VMware
Experience with automation (Ansible)
Familiarity DevOps methodology
Familiarity with Mongo database systems
Familiarity with containerization concepts
Experience with Agile practices like Scrum, Kanban, Paired Coding, or related
Experience developing system documentation including system design documents, architecture documentation, diagrams, etc.
Security Clearance Requirement
Candidate must be US Citizen with the ability to hold and maintain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Automation with Ansible
Experience maintaining and creating virtualized environments with VMware
Experience with MongoDB and Ops Manager
Active Directory Administration
Knowledge of Git or other version control software
Experience with project workflow and management tools such as the Atlassian suite (Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence, Insight)
Other Required Skills and Abilities
Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
