Play On Philly (POP) is a non-profit organization that provides daily, after-school music instruction to over 300 K-12 students. We work in communities that historically have had little or no access to formal music education.

We are seeking a Director of Education to oversee execution of all programming, initiatives, and projects that impact student development, teacher training, community building and family support.
Job Description
In this role, you will partner closely with POP’s Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team to conceptualize, lead and implement POP’s Educational strategies and initiatives related to all student, family, and alumni programming. You will work to foster high engagement and a positive, collaborative culture with the Program Team, Board of Directors, and stakeholders.
You will play a critical leadership role in shaping and measuring student outcomes, ensuring high-quality instruction across all program areas, maintaining healthy and supportive relationships with major program partners, and helping POP attract top teaching and administrative talent from across the region.
To be effective, you should bring high energy, strong problem-solving skills, and adeptness at fostering productivity and high engagement among a group of diverse and talented individuals. This role requires significant independence, analytical skills, strong relationship-building skills, savvy people and project management experience, flexibility, agility, and discretion.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Music Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
A minimum of 5 years’ experience coaching and supervising teachers/teaching artists
A minimum 3 years’ experience in a team leadership role
Thorough understanding of a variety of educational pedagogies and their relation to child development
Experience in collaborative program design and development
Experience managing and developing program budgets
Experience working with culturally, racially and economically diverse student populations
A successful candidate:
Is able to work collaboratively on a team in a high-pressure, multi-tasking environment and to demonstrate flexibility in meeting program needs as they occur
Has excellent time management and verbal and written communications skills
Has occasional evening and weekend availability
Welcomes feedback as a means to personal and professional growth
Salary
$90,000
