Who We Are

The Farmer’s Dog is the fastest growing pet health service company in the US, and was born from a mission to change the landscape of pet health, providing dogs and their humans with honest, smart, and simple care – a fresh proposition in an industry riddled with manipulative and misleading marketing. We’re starting by radically improving the $100 billion pet food market, replacing bulk bags of highly-processed pellets with a personalized subscription service that sends healthy, freshly-made dog food, balanced by top veterinary nutritionists, directly to customers’ doors. Our ultimate goal is to create innovative, honest, and delightful experiences across all aspects of pet care, and we believe our direct-to-consumer business model, holistic approach to growth, and dynamic and forward-thinking culture uniquely position us to shepherd this backwards industry into the future.

To date, The Farmer’s Dog has delivered hundreds of millions of meals nationwide and raised over $150M in funding to help us build a company as healthy as the dogs who are eating those meals. Join us as we continue to develop ways of bringing peace of mind to our customers, health to their companions, and much-needed change to the way people feed and care for their pets.

#LongLiveDogs

A tech note : technology has been and will continue to be at the core of how we are going to build the future above. We think that a small, but creative and free team can accomplish more than a large, bloated, unconstrained, bureaucratic one. We are accelerating our pace of innovation and are making substantial industry-changing new disruptions that will continue to improve the lives of millions of pets, pet owners, and pet care professionals.

A financial note: we are not waiting for a magical moment in the future to be sustainable. We are fiscally prudent, and we have never bitten more than we could chew. We have raised over $150MM where others have deployed more than a billion to reach a similar size.

Where You'll Come In

The Farmer’s Dog is looking for a Product Design Lead to join our growing Product Design function.

As a Product Design Lead, you will provide the vision and execution of the user experience for some of our most exciting new initiatives in the pet health care space. You’ll need to dive deeply and enthusiastically into the needs of our customers, vets, and business goals — then apply your passion and skill for crafting highly usable end-to-end experiences to not only meet our product needs, but also deliver joy to our end users.

Our ideal candidate is highly user-centric, detailed, collaborative, and open to feedback; equally comfortable leading by doing and driving influence by mentoring others. Cross-functional work with Product, Engineering, Growth, and Brand will be central. You should not only be able to deliver simple and elegant solutions that perform but seek out opportunities to go above and beyond, and realize category defining visions.

How You'll Make An Impact

Collaborate with cross functional partners to shape product and experience strategy.

Leverage data (quant and qual) to inform decision making and embrace continuous learning.

Balance creating vision and iterating towards that vision.

Use scientific methods and experiments to drive business outcomes.

Drive projects from insights to high-quality implementation.

Lead design across initiatives to ensure a cohesive experience connecting customer and business goals.

Make others around you better and regularly mentor members of the design team.

Shape improvements to how we work, critiques, and meetings.

Dream big, innovate and drive a holistic experience across digital and physical touch points.

We're Excited About You Because

You have 10+ years experience in product design, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment.

You have a passion for tackling complex problems and designing elegant, simple solutions that delight users.

You have excellent visual design, interaction design, and communication design skills.

You obsess over every pixel and character while also being able to zoom out and think strategically connecting dots and strategy.

You love typography and visual systems.

You're passionate about the intersection of product and brand.

You have a strong entrepreneurial drive and bias towards action.

You're able to function independently and in a team environment, with excellent collaboration skills, expert knowledge and low ego.

You have experience working with Design Systems and a keen eye on maintaining quality across the entire product.

You have experience with design across digital and physical channels.

You are skilled in Figma and excited to learn and adopt the latest design tools.

You approach things holistically and you enjoy the challenge of a big system.

This office policy is subject to change at company discretion.

Our DEI Philosophy:

Our company’s mission is rooted in deep, genuine care for dogs – and for the people who love them. As an organization we are full of individuals who are unique in many ways, but all united in a mission of providing true peace of mind to dog lovers everywhere. Fixing this industry and improving the lives of pets and their people will be a difficult, decades-long endeavor. We believe the best use of our time, energy, and resources as a collective team is to focus on this mission, and on supporting our team to do their best work and be their best selves. In support of this we’re committed to hiring and supporting a diverse workforce, and investing in internal structures, opportunities, hiring/promotions processes, and training that create and sustain an inclusive team. We strive to provide an experience at TFD that will be invested, meaningful and memorable as we progress on the journey to reimagine how we feed and care for our pets.
